£195.00Price
  • Large original watercolour painting, depicting a view of a bridge spanning a river in a town or village (possibly Mill Bridge in Skipton, North Yorkhire?).  This original work is by the Yorkshire artist William Parker (1922–2017).

William Edward Parker was born in Keighley, West Yorkshire, was educated at the Holy Croft School, and studied art at Keighley Art School (Mechanics’ Institute). He worked in a mill until World War 2 when he served in the army. After the war he worked as a lamplighter, and then a labourer with British Gas. Upon retirement he began to paint more seriously and came to prominence when Ashley Jackson chose 5 of his paintings to feature in a calender of works by British Gas' employees and pensioners. The publicity boosted his popularity and today his works can be found in private collections nationally and internationally.
