- Very large original oil on canvas painting, depicting a countryside landscape, with a man walking a dog close to a hay barn beside a small lake/pond in the foreground, and a couple of further figures walking towards a small village, or hamlet, in the distance beyond. This well executed, original work is by the highly collectable English artist Vincent Selby (1919-2004).Vincent Selby studied art at Stockport College, as well as having private tuition and under various artists in the 1930's. In 1946 he served in the Royal Artillery, and upon his return to civilian life he worked in display and interior design, until 1973 when he began painting professionally. His work is predominantly influenced by the work of the 19th century English school landscape artists, and feature in galleries and private collections across the world, and his commissions from publishers have been used and reproduced for prints, cards and ceramics.
