Sarah Jane Szikora (b.1971 )
Humorous limited edition print, depicting stylised figures, with a large woman lying in a bath, leaning across and lifting up the towel tied around the waste of a very thin man standing nearby shaving. This light-hearted, cheeky work is entitled 'Peekaboo', and is by the very quirky, very original British artist Sarah Jane Szikora (b.1971 ).
Sarah Jane Szikora was born in County Durham, England, studied art at Harrogate and Cleveland Art Colleges and turned professional as a freelance illustrator in 1991. Her interest in art started when she began drawing to relieve boredom while recovering from eye surgery as a hospitalised child. Her eyes weren’t her only health concern during her formative years, as she had personal struggles with eating disorders which relate to the subject matter in her key trademark artistic compositions, featuring obese ladies in humourous situations. Her quirky art is very popular, with galleries throughout the UK and overseas mounting exhibitions of her work on a regular basis, with London venues in particular showcasing her limited edition prints.
