  • Bright and vibrant original watercolour painting, depicting a view across the fabulous Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire, with sheep grazing in a pasture in the foreground, and the River Swale meandering through the lush scenery beyond. This fabulous painting is entitled 'River Swale at Keld', and is by the highly collectable Yorkshire artist Sam Chadwick (1902–1992). This is a rare opportunity to own an original painting by Sam Chadwick, whose works are much sought after and, as such, are widely reproduced as limited edition prints.

Sam Chadwick was born in Yorkshire, and worked as an apprentice at the printing firm Alf Cooke’s, before eventually opening his studio in Wade Lane, Leeds.  His atmospheric paintings in his signature 'wet brush' watercolour style have been much in demand, and since his death in 1992, his work has been increasingly difficult to source.
