Original mid-century oil on canvas painting, depicting a stormy, atmospheric sky over a farmhouse in a Surrey landscape, by the listed English Sally Gaywood (20th Century).
Sally Gaywood was born in Chester and, although she initially trained to be a dancer, her main interest was to be an artist, and she became a pupil of the late Robert Goodwin, the marine and portrait painter, and studied with him in his Chelsea studio. She has worked as a professional artist for many years and is known for her accurate depiction of light, atmosphere and in particular skies and clouds. She paints in the style of the great English artists and has exhibited in the UK and abroad, in both group and solo exhibitions, with her work featuring in private and public collections around the world.
