Superb original oil painting on panel, depicting a seascape, with a sail boat in full sail as the sun is setting, close to a Dutch coastline. This beautifully detailed painting is a classic example of the fabulous work of the Dutch artist Paul Zander (b.1945 ).

 

Paul Zander was born in Antwerp, Holland, and studied art at the Academy of Helmond. Upon graduating he initially worked with his father in his boat building business, until deciding to follow his artistic calling and pursue his love of painting. While travelling throughout the UK in his late twenties he spent six months living on the Suffolk coast, and loved it so much that he decided to settle there with his wife. The knowledge he gained while boat building with his father, proved a great inspiration for his paintings which concentrate on marine studies and rural landscapes from his homeland.
