Patrick Hall (1906-1992)
Large original watercolour painting, depicting a view along a tree-lined road in a French countryside landscape, this original work is entitled 'La Route', and is by the listed British artist Patrick Hall (1906-1992).
William Patrick Hall was born in York and, as a creative teenager, worked on a project restoring the stained glass windows of York Minster. Upon leaving school he worked in the family tanning business while studying art on a part-time basis at both the York and Northampton Art Schools. During World War Two he was commissioned to produce paintings depicting paratroopers training at RAF Ringway, Cheshire, and after the war he moved to London and worked full-time as an artist. He exhibited widely in both group and solo exhibitions, including at the prestigious Royal Academy and Paris Salon, and his works feature in both private and public collections around the world, including at the Imperial War Museum and the National Gallery of Australia.
