Patricia Maclaurin was born in Christchurch, New Zealand, and studied art at the Canterbury School of Art, Christchurch and, upon moving to the UK, Richmond Adult College, London. She was a successful professional artist who exhibited widely, including at The Royal Academy, The Mall Galleries, The Pastel Society, The Royal Institute of Oil Painters, The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and The Society of Women Artists.- Initialled lower right- Original exhibition label, and artist's label verso- Framed and ready to hang, in a cream-coloured veneered moulded period frame, with hessian inset slip- Painting size 25.5cm x 20.5cm (approx. 10 inches x 8 inches)- Overall frame size 32.5cm x 27.5cm (approx. 12 3/4 inches x 10 3/4 inches)
