Atmospheric original acrylic painting on board, beautifully presented in a gallery frame, depicting abundant white-petalled wildflowers in a sepia-coloured riverscape.  This beautiful original work is entitled 'Autumn Time V', is by the British contemporary artist Mary Shaw (b.1955 ), and is a classic example of her current work.

 

Mary Shaw was born in Bristol, and is a self- taught artist, who showed a flair for painting as a child, and received her first commission as a thirteen year old.  As an adult she spent a few years on the African continent, in both Zimbabwe and Cape Town, South Africa, and, it was during this time that she began to establish herself as a professional artist.  Upon her return to the United Kingdom she rediscovered an affection for the English countryside which she began to depict in her paintings, using a variety of media.  She has exhibited extensively throughout the UK, is currently represented by one of the countries largest chain of galleries, and her works can be found in private collections around the World, including perhaps most notably in that of the King of Qatar.
