  • Original watercolour painting, of a scene from post war Northern England, depicting a woman and her son cleaning up their back yard. This original piece was created in 1990, is entitled 'Sweeping The Path', and is by the English artist Margaret Clarkson (b.1941 ), whose works are widely reproduced as limited edition prints, however, this is an extremely rare opportunity to own one of her originals.

Margaret Clarkson was born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and trained at the Rotherham School of Art and Bromley Art College, before going on to teach art for many years.  Her works, mainly in watercolours, depict nostalgic scenes from the 1940s and 1950s, and are a historical record of life in working class households in Northern England, during the post War years. She has become a very successful and highly collectable artist, who has exhibited widely, and whose works have been reproduced as limited edition prints and greeting cards, and whose commissions have included book illustrations.
