Mandy Shepherd (b.1960 )
Original monochrome watercolour painting, depicting the iconic portrait image of the Argentine Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara (1928-1967), this superb original work is by the wildlife, military and portrait artist Mandy Shepherd (b.1960 ), daughter of the celebrated wildlife artist David Shepherd (1931-2017).
Mandy Shepherd was born in England, and studied at London's Byam Shaw School of Art and the University of Brighton. She initially worked in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and with a thriving gallery in South Africa, which led to her first solo exhibition in Zimbabwe in 1980, before returning to England in 1982. During a wildlife trip to The Falkland Islands, in 1996 she was introduced to the armed services which led to commissions from numerous regiments, many foreign trips with the military and time at sea on various Navy Carriers, culminating in her working for the Special Forces recording international active deployment. Today her body of work encompasses wildlife, the military and portraiture and features in many collections worldwide, including an equine painting, presented to the late Queen Elizabeth, which now hangs at Sandringham.
