Leonard Fenton (1926-2022)
Original oil painting depicting a view of a London street scene, with soldiers of the King's Guard on horseback, on a wide, cafe-lined avenue, this atmospheric original work is by the English actor, director and artist Leonard Fenton (1926-2022), and is a classic example of his style of work.
Leonard Fenton was born Leonard Finestein in Stepney, and studied to be a civil engineer at King's College London. He worked as an engineer in the army during World War II, and continued in the profession until the 1950s when he took up acting winning a scholarship to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, London. His acting career spanned over sixty years, on stage, in film and on television, however, he was best known for playing Harold Legg, one of the original characters in the BBC soap opera, EastEnders.
