- Original oil painting on board, depicting a view of Vaucluse in the Provence region of France, with sunflowers in the foreground, and dramatic mountains beyond. This original work has been colourfully created in a Fauvist-style, and is by the English Expressionist artist John Michael Saville (1922-2010).John Michael Saville was born in Leeds, and studied at the Leeds College of Art, The Forces Art College, Hamburg and at The Leeds Polytechnic. He worked in an Expressionist style with bold use of paint and colours, inspired by the 1950s. He had a studio in France for 30 years which he visited regularly throughout the years to capture the seasons, and this is represented in many of his paintings which feature French landscapes.
