- Very large, humorous original acrylic painting, depicting stylised characters riding penny farthings in a stylised landscape, this bright and uplifting original piece is by the very original, quirky English artist John D Wilson, and is a classic example of his work.John D Wilson was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. His first foray into the art world came as a 10 year old when he won first prize in a school Easter Card Competition, two years later he was given a set of oil paints and an easel which opened up a whole new world. He attended classes at the ‘Harrogate School of Art', and an evening course in figure painting and pop art, which led to him exhibiting a ‘pop art' self-portrait in the Harrogate Art Gallery. He painted in his spare time until the mid 1990's when he started exhibiting in local galleries, and after many successful exhibitions, he now paints full time.
