Original watercolour painting depicting a young woman in a flowing white dress, leaning against a wall, this atmospheric original work is by the renowned British figurative artist Gordon King (1939-2022), this is a very rare opportunity to own an original work by this popular artist.

Gordon King was born in London, spent the war years in Fife, Scotland, the home of his father, and then settled in Reading.  He studied life drawing and painting at Reading University Art School, trained as an illustrator at Carlton Studios, and became a freelance illustrator at 22 years old.  He provided illustrations for major magazines and advertising agencies, while developing his portraits and paintings, and in 1966 he moved to a studio in a Buckinghamshire village.  He specialised in figurative work, portraiture and sporting subjects, had numerous one-man exhibitions, and regularly exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, and many galleries throughout Britain, the USA and Europe currently exhibit his paintings.  He was regarded as one of the country's finest contemporary watercolourists, and much of his work has been recreated as limited edition prints.
