Large original oil painting on canvas, depicting a fox hunting scene, with huntsmen on horseback, and fox hounds, beside a river a river, in a beautiful extensive countryside landscape. This spectacular and impactful original work is by the renowned listed British artist Donald Ayres (b.1936 ).
Donald Ayres was born in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex, and upon leaving school, became an apprentice Diamond Setter, before joining the Royal Navy, where he travelled the world. In the early 1960's following a fairly long illness, his wife placed a few of his works in a local shop where they sold and created much interest in his ability, and with his confidence growing, he moved to Cornwall and became a professional artist. He draws inspiration from the 'Old Masters', and has spent his artistic life travelling, painting and sketching the length and breadth of Great Britain.
