Original pastel painting on paper, laid on board (plywood), presented in a protective perspex cover, depicting a portrait of a young woman, by the British impressionist artist Dexter Brown (b.1942 ).
Dexter Brown was born in Middlesex, and studied at the Harrow School of Art. He initially worked in advertising, before turning professional in 1978, when he began painting live bands at the Electric Ballroom in London, which led to him designing the album cover and costumes of pop star Toyah Willcox. He then worked as artist-in-residence at the Duke of York Theatre, and has painted many famous people, including Al Pacino, Billy Connolly, Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie. Regarded today as one of the leading living automotive painters, whose subject matter also encompasses wildlife, street scenes and figure studies, he has exhibited worldwide and his works feature in many private collections.- Signed lower left- Laid on board and encased, to the front and edges, in a protective perspex covering- Overall size,including perspex covering, 67cm x 46.5cm (approx. 26 3/8 inches x 18 1/4 inches)- Both painting and perspex covering are in excellent condition- Excellent investment- Conversation piece
