  • Very large, beautifully framed, limited edition fine art silkscreen print, depicting a humourous scene with stylised nobility figures, entitled 'The Baron Entertains', this fabulous, quirky piece is by the renowned British artist Beryl Cook OBE (1926-2008), famous for her original and instantly recognisable paintings featuring comically stylised people in everyday life

Beryl Francis Lansley was born in Egham, Surrey and, upon leaving school at 14, worked in various jobs, including as a model and showgirl. In 1948, she married John Cook, and moved to Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in 1956, where, with no formal training she produced her first painting. She moved to England in 1965 and began to focus on her painting, first in cornwal, then in Plymouth, where she split her time between running a guest house and painting. The success of her first exhibition at the Plymouth Arts Centre in 1975 led to a cover feature in The Sunday Times, and regular exhibitions throughout her remaining life. She published many books of her works, was featured in a number of television programmes and won numerous awards throughout her career, including the Order of the British Empire in 1995.
