Original Victorian watercolour painting, depicting a countryside landscape, with a figure, and chickens, in front of a thatched cottage on an unmade road. This original painting is by the renowned British landscape artist Albert Goodwin RWS (1845–1932).
Albert Goodwin was born in Maidstone, Kent and initially worked as an apprentice draper, before studying art with the Pre-Raphaelite artists Arthur Hughes and Ford Madox Brown. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1860, and became an associate member of the Royal Watercolour Society (RWS) in 1876. He was championed by the famous art critic John Ruskin, and traveled extensively throughout Britain, Europe as well as further afield. He was a prolific artist who continued to paint well into his eighties and his wide variety of landscape subjects reflected his love of travel and show the influence of Turner.- Signed with monogram, and dated 1884, by the artist lower left- Framed and ready to hang, in a moulded dark-wooden frame with a gilt finish- Visible painting size 33.5cm x 23.5cm (approx. 13 1/4 inches x 9 1/4 inches)

- The painting is very slightly discoloured, commensurate with age, and has some very faint foxing in the sky area, only visible under close inspection, please see image above, otherwise the it is in excellent condition- The frame has some minor rubbing, and one or two minor dinks, otherwise it is in excellent condition- Excellent investment- Original gift
